My inspiration is David Mack, creator of Kabuki! He likes to draw Asian girls so I drew an Asian boy (suppsedly). I used photo reference which I believe he uses also, but he has his own personal Asian model. I like how he separates shadow from light in his pencil drawings. What puzzles me is how sometimes he does a detailed drawing and then the hand is a claw! Claw hands! Plus, he likes triangles.
I'm not an artist and I don't have any influences, but I thank God that Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse. I read that when The Mickey Mouse Club instantly got 1 million members, the whole world was like, "Why the f does everyone love Mickey Mouse so much? What is the scientific reason? What does it tell us about humanity?" When they asked Walt that, he was like, "Mickey just wants everyone to be happy and have a good time." A very simple answer for a very complicated question. And that's why Mickey Mouse makes me insanely happy.
Jim Lee inspires everyone. When I sketched this initially with pencil, it looked more like his style of cross hatching/shading but when I started adding ink wash and ink, my own style came through. So this is a Jim/Kim fusion. I first learned how to cross hatch by copying Jim Lee so it feels good that I've been able to carve my own (different) style from his work.

I have always admired (okay, LOVED) Tim Burton's aesthetic, but I didn't realize how much he influenced my drawing style until I incorporated a few of his artwork's themes/styles into this picture and it all seemed to fit perfectly into my "artistic" world. Let's collaborate, TB -- call me.
My impression (rip-off) of the cover to Runaways Vol 2 by Adrian Alphona. Didn't want to do fan art, so you may see some familiar faces...
